There are many different sources of funding for study and travel and we will be posting some of them here as we identify them. Check back frequently for the latest!

Student exchange scholarships (University of Tasmania and Universidad de Magallanes)

Thanks to a grant from the Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR), several scholarships are available for Masters students from the University of Tasmania and the Universidad de Magallanes who would like to undertake coursework or research at their partner university. Travel fellowship to the Antarctic Treaty Summit

The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), together with the organizers of the Antarctic Treaty Summit, are asking all young researchers to share their thoughts and opinions in form of an essay focusing on how to better integrate science and policy, and on the needs for new policy dealing with current issues in the Antarctic as well as the Arctic. Winners will receive a travel fellowship to represent the new generation of polar researchers at the Antarctic Treaty Summit, which will be held in Washington, DC from 30 November to 3 December, 2009. Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional

Funds scholarships for foreign students to undertake postgraduate study in Spain (MSc-PhD) or for Spanish students to study in another country. Web address: www.becasmae.es

CONICYT (Comisión Nacional de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica)

Ernst Shering Foundation

PhD fellowships for basic research in biology or chemistry. For students from any country to a university of their choice. Web address: http://www.scheringstiftung.de/

Fundación 'la Caixa'

Provides complete scholarships for Spanish Masters, PhD, and post-doctoral studies at any university in France, Germany, UK or US, in any subject area. Web address: http://www.fundacio.lacaixa.es/becas/becas_es.html

Fundação Lemann

Through the Fundação Estudar, they provide scholarships for Brazilian undergraduates and post-graduates (merit based through selection criteria).  Students can attend either Brazilian or foreign universities. Web address: http://www.estudar.org.br/fundacao.php

Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz Foundation

Heinz-Schwarzkopf-Stiftung Junges Europa

Leverhulm Trust

Winston Churchill Memorial Trust
